Procedure
Operating in Saltwater or Polluted Water
1. Flush the internal water passages of the outboard with fresh water after each use in salt or polluted water to prevent deposit buildup from clogging water passages. Refer to Maintenance – Flushing the Cooling System. 2. If the boat is moored in water, tilt the outboard so the gearcase is completely out of water when not in use (except in freezing temperatures). 3. Wash the outboard exterior and flush out the exhaust outlet of the propeller and gearcase with fresh water after each use. 4. Each month, spray Mercury Precision or Quicksilver Corrosion Guard on external metal surfaces. WARNING: Do not spray Corrosion Guard on corrosion control anodes as this will reduce the effectiveness of the anodes. Parts: Mercury Precision or Quicksilver Corrosion Guard
