Outboard Transom Mounting – Hardware Installation

1. Apply marine sealer to the shank of the outboard mounting bolts (not the threads). 2. Install the four 0.500 in. diameter outboard mounting bolts with 0.875 in. flat washers, 1.500 in. flat washers, and nylon insert locknuts. WARNING: Do NOT apply marine sealer to the bolt threads. 3. Tighten the nylon insert locknuts (rather than the outboard mounting bolts) to the specified torque for a more accurate torque reading. For a standard boat transom, torque to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft). For metal lift plates and setback brackets, torque to 122 Nm (90 lb-ft).
