Battery Maintenance and Winter Storage Preparation

1. Disconnect the battery cables, removing the negative terminal first. WARNING: Place the battery away from any source of fire, sparks, and open flames such as burners or welding equipment. Place the battery away from the fuel tank — accidental sparks from the battery may cause explosion of gasoline. 2. Wipe off any chemical deposits, dirt, or grease from the battery. 3. Apply grease to the battery terminals. 4. Charge the battery completely before storing it for the winter.
