Emergency Measures for Submerged Outboard Motor

1. Do NOT attempt to start the submerged outboard motor immediately after recovery. Take it to a dealer immediately. WARNING: Attempting to start a submerged outboard motor immediately after recovery could severely damage the engine. 2. Wash the outboard motor with fresh water to remove salt or dirt. 3. Remove the engine oil drain screw and completely drain water and oil from the engine. 4. Remove the spark plugs and completely drain the water from the engine by pulling the recoil starter several times. 5. Replace the oil filter and refill oil to the correct level. Note: The oil and filter may need to be changed again after running a short period to remove all moisture from the crankcase. 6. Inject a sufficient amount of engine oil through the spark plug holes. Pull the recoil starter rope several times to circulate the oil throughout the outboard motor.
