Procedure
Electric Start Engine Starting Procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch key to the ON position. The buzzer will sound twice to confirm. 2. Turn the ignition switch key to the START position and hold it there until the engine starts. WARNING: Do not operate the starter for more than 5 seconds at a time — this will overheat and damage the starter motor. If the engine fails to start within 5 seconds, release the key and wait at least 10 seconds before trying again. 3. Once the engine starts, release the key and allow it to return to the ON position. WARNING: Never turn the ignition switch to the START position while the engine is already running — this can damage the starter motor and flywheel. 4. Allow the engine to warm up before getting underway. Above 41°F (5°C): warm up for 2–3 minutes. Below 41°F (5°C): warm up for at least 10 minutes at approximately 2,000 rpm by pressing the fast idle button and moving the control lever forward or reverse to open the throttle.
