Engine Oil Level Check

1. Check the engine oil level with the engine stopped and the outboard motor in the vertical position. 2. Unlock and remove the engine cover (refer to p. 88). 3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean. 4. Insert the dipstick all the way in, then remove it and check the oil level shown on the dipstick. 5. If the oil level is low, remove the oil filler cap and add oil to reach the upper limit mark shown on the dipstick. Use the recommended oil (refer to p. 93). WARNING: Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage. Do not overfill — overfilling the engine will cause it to smoke or have oil leaks.
