Oil Filter Change
1. Drain the engine oil, then reinstall the drain bolt, washer, and drain bolt cover per the Engine Oil Change procedure (p. 91). 2. Tilt the outboard motor and place a suitable container below the oil drain guide to catch used oil. 3. Use a suitable tool to remove the oil filter, and thoroughly drain the filter into the used oil container. 4. Clean the oil filter mounting base, then coat the rubber seal of the new oil filter with clean engine oil. WARNING: Use only a Honda Genuine oil filter or a filter of equivalent quality specified for your model. Using the wrong filter, or a non-Honda filter not of equivalent quality, may cause engine damage. 5. Screw on the new filter by hand until it contacts the engine, then use a suitable tool to tighten the filter an additional 7/8 turn. (torque: 9 lbf·ft) 6. Install and lock the engine cover (p. 88). Tools: Suitable tool for oil filter removal/installation, Suitable container for used oil Parts: Honda Genuine Oil Filter (or equivalent quality filter specified for model), Clean engine oil (for rubber seal lubrication)
