Procedure
Check and top up engine oil level
1. If the oil level is below the operating range (cross hatched region), remove the oil filler cap and add approximately 500 ml (16 oz) of the specified outboard motor oil. WARNING: Do not try to fill to the upper end of the operating range (cross hatched region). 2. Allow a few minutes for the added oil to drain to the oil sump, then check the level on the dipstick. Repeat until the oil level is within the operating range (cross hatched region). 3. Inspect the oil for signs of contamination. Oil contaminated with water will have a milky color; oil contaminated with fuel will have a strong fuel smell. If contaminated oil is noticed, have the engine checked by a dealer. WARNING: Do not operate the engine if oil contamination (milky color or strong fuel smell) is detected. Have it inspected by a dealer immediately. 4. Push the dipstick back in all the way. 5. Install the oil fill cap hand-tight. 6. Install the top cowl.
