Procedure
Post-Start Cooling System Check
1. After engine starts, check for a steady stream of water flowing out of the water pump indicator hole. 2. If no water is coming out of the water pump indicator hole, stop the engine immediately. WARNING: Operating the engine while overheated will cause engine damage. 3. Check the cooling water intake for obstruction. 4. If no obstruction is found, have the outboard checked by your dealer — this may indicate water pump failure or a blockage in the cooling system.
