Engine Break-In

1. Run outboard motor at Idle throttle position for 1–10 minutes. WARNING: Do not operate in a closed area or area with insufficient ventilation. Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide. 2. Run at less than 1/2 throttle from 10 minutes to 2 hours. WARNING: If any abnormality is experienced during break-in, discontinue operation immediately and have the dealer check the product. 3. Run at less than 3/4 throttle from 2–3 hours, keeping speed below approx. 3000 rpm max. Full throttle runs are allowed for 1 minute every 10 minutes. 4. Run at 3/4 throttle from 3–10 hours at approx. 4000 rpm. Full throttle runs are allowed for 2 minutes every 10 minutes. 5. After 10 hours, full throttle is available for normal operation.
