Engine Break-In Procedure
1. Run the outboard motor at idle throttle position for the first 1–10 minutes. WARNING: Do not operate the outboard motor in a closed area or area with no forced ventilation. From 2 to 3 hours of operation, keep the throttle at less than 3/4 position. Maximum speed is approximately 3000 rpm. Full throttle runs are allowed for 1 minute every 10 minutes. 4. From 3 to 10 hours of operation, run at 3/4 throttle. Maximum speed is approximately 4000 rpm. Full throttle runs are allowed for 2 minutes every 10 minutes. 5. After 10 hours of total operation, full throttle is available for normal use. 6. If any abnormality is experienced during break-in, discontinue operation immediately and have the dealer check the product and take proper action(s) if necessary. WARNING: Operating the outboard motor without proper break-in can shorten the service life of the product.
