Flushing the outboard motor cooling water passage using flushing attachment

1. Remove the propeller and the forward thrust holder before flushing. WARNING: Do not start engine without removing propeller — accidentally turning propeller could cause personal injury. To prevent the engine from starting when near the propeller, remove the stop switch lock. 2. Tilt down the outboard motor. 3. Remove the water plug from the gear case and screw in the flushing attachment. 4. Connect a water hose. Turn on the water and adjust the flow. Be sure to seal the water inlet located in the gear case with tape. 5. Put the shift lever in the neutral position and start the engine. WARNING: Never start or operate the engine indoors or in any space which is not well ventilated. Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas which can be fatal if inhaled for any length of time. 6. Continue flushing the outboard motor for 3 to 5 minutes at idling. 7. Stop the engine and water supply. Remove the flushing attachment and tape. After flushing, be sure to reattach the water plug. WARNING: When washing the outboard motor, be careful not to spray water inside the top cowl, especially on electrical components. Tools: Flushing attachment, Water hose, Tape
