Remote control cable installation

1. Measure the distance from the remote control box to the outboard motor along the intended cable route. 2. Prepare a cable that is 300–450 mm (11.8–17.7 in) longer than the measured distance. 3. Temporarily pull the cable along the intended route to verify the length is sufficient. 4. Connect the remote control cable to the engine, then run the cable to the remote control box. Ensure the cable is not sharply bent, not too taut, and is free from obstructions that could interfere with steering. WARNING: Ensure the cable does not obstruct or interfere with steering movement.
