Procedure
Starting Engine – Tiller Handle Type
1. Install the stop switch lock to the stop switch, and attach the stop switch lanyard securely to the operator or to the operator's PFD (Personal Flotation Device). WARNING: Failure to attach lanyard could prevent engine shut-off in an emergency. 2. Set the control lever (shift lever) in the Neutral position. WARNING: Start-in-gear protection prevents engine from starting in any position other than neutral. In-gear starting will move the boat immediately, potentially causing passengers to fall overboard.
