Procedure
Trim tab adjustment
1. Secure the outboard motor to the transom or a service stand before beginning adjustment. WARNING: Be sure the outboard motor is secured to transom or service stand; accidental drop or fall could lead to severe personal injury. 2. If the motor is tilted up for access, lock it in the tilt-up position. WARNING: Be sure to lock the outboard motor in the tilt-up position; accidental fall could lead to severe personal injury. Do not go under the outboard motor while it is in the tilt-up locked position. 3. Locate the trim tab under the anti-ventilation plate. 4. If the boat veers toward the left, direct the trim tab toward position A (left from rear of boat). WARNING: Inappropriate adjustment of the trim tab could cause steering difficulty. After installing or re-adjusting the trim tab, check that steering load is even. 5. If the boat veers toward the right, direct the trim tab toward position B (right from rear of boat). 6. After adjustment, verify that straight-line cruising is achieved and that steering load is even.
