Iridium Spark Plug Inspection and Servicing

1. Follow the same installation and removal procedure as standard spark plugs. 2. Do NOT clean the iridium spark plugs. If an electrode is contaminated with accumulated objects or dirt, replace the spark plug with a new one. WARNING: Cleaning iridium spark plugs can damage the iridium-coated center electrode. 3. If checking the spark plug gap, use ONLY a wire-type feeler gauge. Never use a leaf-type feeler gauge. WARNING: Using a leaf-type feeler gauge can damage the iridium coating on the center electrode. 4. Verify the spark plug gap is within specification: 0.039 – 0.043 inches (1.0 – 1.1 mm). 5. Do NOT adjust the spark plug gap. If the gap is out of specification, replace the spark plug with a new one. WARNING: Adjusting the gap on an iridium spark plug may damage the iridium coating.
