Battery cable gauge selection for extended cable lengths
1. Determine total battery cable length as the sum of both positive and negative cables. 2. If cables longer than the factory-supplied 3.6 m (12 ft) #4 gauge cables are required, increase wire gauge size accordingly. Refer to the battery cable gauge-vs-length chart for the correct gauge. 3. Use only copper battery cables. Do not use aluminum power cables in any marine installation. WARNING: Only copper battery cables should be used.
