Procedure
Operating in Freezing Temperatures
1. Keep the outboard tilted down at all times so the gearcase is submerged when operating or moored in freezing or near-freezing temperatures. This prevents trapped water in the gearcase from freezing and damaging the water pump and other components. 2. If there is a chance of ice forming on the water, remove the outboard and drain it completely of water to prevent ice blockage in the driveshaft housing from restricting water flow to the engine.
