Procedure
Outboard Installation – Mounting Bolt Torque Procedure
1. Apply marine sealer to the shank of the outboard mounting bolts (not the threads). WARNING: Do not apply marine sealer to the bolt threads. 2. Install 0.500 in. diameter outboard mounting bolts (x4) with 0.875 in. flat washers (x4) and 1.500 in. flat washers (x4) and nylon insert locknuts (x4). 3. For a more accurate torque reading, tighten the mounting locknuts rather than the outboard mounting bolts. WARNING: Tighten locknuts, not the bolts, for accurate torque. 4. Torque mounting locknuts and bolts to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft) for a standard boat transom. (torque: 75 Nm) 5. Torque mounting locknuts and bolts to 122 Nm (90 lb-ft) when using metal lift plates and setback brackets. (torque: 122 Nm) Tools: Torque wrench Parts: Outboard mounting bolt, 0.500 in. diameter (qty 4), Flat washer, 0.875 in. (qty 4), Nylon insert locknut (qty 4), Flat washer, 1.500 in.
