Periodic Maintenance Checklist

1. Check low-pressure fuel filter for contaminants. Replace filter if required. Refer to Fuel System. 2. Remove the propeller and lubricate the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Replacement. 3. Inspect the condition of propeller bore sleeve when the propeller is removed. Replace the propeller bore sleeve if it is suspected of being worn, loose, or the retention tabs are broken. Dealer service. Refer to Propeller Bore Sleeve Inspection—If Equipped. 4. Inspect the thermostat visually for corrosion or a broken spring. Verify the thermostat closes completely at room temperature. Dealer service. 5. Check the outboard mounting fasteners that secure the outboard to the boat transom. Tighten the fasteners to the specified torque. Dealer service. (torque: 75 Nm) WARNING: Standard transom: 75 Nm (55.3 lb-ft). Metal lift plates and setback brackets: 122 Nm (90 lb-ft). 6. Check corrosion control anodes. Check more frequently when used in saltwater. Refer to Corrosion Control Anode. 7. Drain and replace gearcase lubricant. Refer to Gearcase Lubrication. 8. Inspect battery. Refer to Battery Inspection. 9. Saltwater usage: Remove and inspect spark plugs for corrosion and replace as necessary. Apply Anti-Seize Compound (Part No. 92-898101385, Tube Ref No. 81) only on threads of spark plug prior to installation. Refer to Spark Plug Inspection and Replacement. 10. Check tightness of bolts, nuts, and other fasteners. Dealer service. 11. Add Quickleen Engine & Fuel System Cleaner (Part No. 8M0047931) to the fuel tank. 12. Check cowl seals to ensure seals are intact and not damaged. 13. Check internal cowl sound reduction foam to ensure foam is intact and not damaged, if equipped.
