Steering Link Rod Assembly – Outboard Installation
1. Assemble the steering link rod to the steering cable using two flat washers and nylon insert locknut (c). Tighten the locknut until it seats, then back the nut off 1/4 turn. WARNING: Improper fasteners or improper installation procedures can result in loosening or disengagement of the steering link rod, causing sudden, unexpected loss of boat control, resulting in serious injury or death. Always use required components and follow instructions and torque procedures. 2. Assemble the steering link rod to the engine using the special washer head bolt (10‑856680) and nylon insert locknut (d). First torque the special washer head bolt to 27 Nm (20 lb‑ft). (torque: 27 Nm) 3. After torquing the special washer head bolt, torque nylon insert locknut (d) to 27 Nm (20 lb‑ft).
