Steering Link Rod Fastener Installation

1. Fasten the steering link rod (which connects the steering cable to the engine) using the special washer head bolt (Part Number 10-856680) and self-locking nylon insert locknuts (Part Number 11-826709113, positions 'c' and 'd'). WARNING: Never replace the self-locking nylon insert locknuts with common (non-locking) nuts. Non-locking nuts will work loose and vibrate off, freeing the link rod to disengage. 2. Before each use, check the fasteners securing the outboard to the transom as reminded by the decal on the transom bracket.
