Procedure
Cleaning the Fuel Filters and Fuel Tank
1. Drain all fuel from the fuel tank. 2. Remove the fuel lines from the fuel filter (located between the fuel valve and the fuel pump). 3. Inspect the fuel filter. If there is water or dirt inside, replace the filter. 4. Install the filter in the same orientation as it was removed. WARNING: Ensure correct orientation when reinstalling the fuel filter. 5. For external tanks: loosen and remove the fuel pickup elbow, then clean the fuel tank filter. 6. Check and clean the fuel tank at the specified service interval or after the motor has been stored for a long period of time (over three months). WARNING: Water or dirt in the fuel tank will cause engine performance problems.
