Procedure
Operating in Freezing Temperatures
1. Keep the outboard tilted down at all times so the gearcase is submerged when moored in freezing or near-freezing temperatures. This prevents trapped water in the gearcase from freezing and damaging the water pump and other components. 2. If there is a chance of ice forming on the water, remove the outboard and drain it completely of water to prevent ice from blocking water flow to the engine. WARNING: Ice forming inside the driveshaft housing at the water level will block water flow to the engine and may cause serious damage.
