Propeller Replacement

1. Remove the spark plug lead to prevent the engine from starting. WARNING: Rotating propellers can cause serious injury or death. Never operate the boat out of the water with a propeller installed. Before installing or removing a propeller, place the drive unit in neutral and engage the lanyard stop switch to prevent the engine from starting. 2. Move the gear shift lever into neutral. 3. Straighten and remove the cotter pin. 4. Place a block of wood between the gearcase and the propeller to hold the propeller, then remove the propeller nut. 5. Pull the propeller straight off the shaft. If the propeller is seized to the shaft and cannot be removed, have the propeller removed by an authorized dealer. WARNING: To prevent the propeller hub from corroding and seizing to the propeller shaft (especially in saltwater), always apply the recommended lubricant to the entire propeller shaft at the recommended maintenance intervals and also each time the propeller is removed.
