Ask Boat Guru about thisProcedure · 1. After each use in salt, polluted, or muddy water, flush the internal water passages of the outboard with fresh water using a Mercury Precision or Quicksilver accessory (or equivalent) flushing attachment.
Diagnostic · Cause: Cooling water intake obstruction, water pump failure, or blockage in cooling system Test: Stop engine and check cooling water intake for obstruction

Procedure · 1. After each use in salt or polluted water, flush the internal water passages of the outboard with fresh water to prevent deposit buildup from clogging water passages. Refer to Maintenance – Flushing the Cooling System.
