Procedure
Operating in Freezing Temperatures
1. Keep the outboard tilted down at all times when moored or operating in freezing or near-freezing temperatures so the gearcase remains submerged. This prevents trapped water in the gearcase from freezing and damaging the water pump and other components. WARNING: If ice forms at the water level inside the outboard driveshaft housing, it will block water flow to the engine, causing possible damage. 2. If there is a chance of ice forming on the water surface, remove the outboard from the water and drain it completely of water.
