Procedure
Post-Impact Inspection After Striking a Submerged Object
1. Stop the engine as soon as possible after striking a submerged or floating object. WARNING: Operating a damaged outboard could cause additional damage to other parts or affect control of the boat. 2. Inspect the outboard for any broken or loose parts. 3. Check the boat hull and transom for fractures or water leaks. 4. If damage is present or suspected, take the outboard to an authorized dealer for thorough inspection and necessary repair. 5. If continued running is necessary before repair, operate at greatly reduced speeds. WARNING: Continued operation of a damaged outboard may cause further damage or loss of boat control.
