Procedure
Setting Trim Angle While Running Engine at Idle Speed
1. Check if the exhaust relief hole on the outboard is submerged when the engine is trimmed full in while running at idle speed. WARNING: Submerged exhaust relief hole may result in exhaust restriction, rough idle, excessive smoke, and fouled spark plugs. 2. If the exhaust relief hole is submerged, trim the outboard up until the exhaust relief hole is out of the water.
