Procedure
Steering Link Rod Assembly
1. Assemble the steering link rod to the steering cable using two flat washers and a self-locking nylon insert locknut (c). WARNING: Improper fasteners or improper installation procedures can result in loosening or disengagement of the steering link rod, causing sudden, unexpected loss of boat control, resulting in serious injury or death. Always use required components and follow instructions and torque procedures. 2. Tighten nylon insert locknut (c) until it seats, then back the nut off 1/4 turn. 3. Torque the special washer head bolt (a) to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.). (torque: 27 Nm) 4. Torque nylon insert locknut (d) to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.). (torque: 27 Nm) WARNING: Never replace self-locking nylon insert locknuts with common (non-locking) nuts. Non-locking nuts will work loose and vibrate off, freeing the link rod to disengage.
