Mooring, Beaching, and Launching – Tilting Outboard Motor Up

1. After stopping the engine, leave the outboard motor in the running position for one minute to drain water from inside the engine. WARNING: Do not tilt up before the one-minute drain period has elapsed. 2. Stop the engine and disconnect the fuel hose from the outboard motor before tilting. WARNING: Always disconnect the fuel hose before tilting the outboard motor. 3. Use the power tilt switch on the engine pan to tilt the outboard motor up as far as it will go. 4. Move the tilt lock lever to the LOCK position, then gently lower the outboard motor until the lever contacts the stern bracket. 5. Use the power tilt switch to fully shorten the trim rods. 6. If more clearance is needed to swing the tilt lock lever into the LOCK position, rock the outboard motor forward slightly by pulling on the engine cover grip.
