Trim adjustment during cruising

1. Use the power trim/tilt switch (UP or DN side) to adjust the angle of the outboard motor. The switch can be used whether the boat is underway or stopped. 2. Refer to the trim meter (p. 44) for an indication of whether the outboard motor is trimmed high or low. 3. Under normal conditions, trim the antiventilation plate to be level with the water surface for best performance. 4. When cruising into a high wind, trim the outboard motor DOWN slightly to level the boat and improve stability. WARNING: Do not over-trim; excessive trim/tilt angle can cause propeller ventilation, overheating, and water pump damage. 5. With a tail wind, trim the outboard motor UP slightly. WARNING: Do not over-trim; excessive trim/tilt angle can cause propeller ventilation, overheating, and water pump damage. 6. If the rev limiter activates (engine speed becomes unstable at high speed), reduce speed and check/correct the trim angle.
