Procedure
Setting Trim Angle while Running Engine at Idle Speed
1. Check whether the exhaust relief hole on the outboard is submerged when the engine is trimmed full in while running at idle speed. WARNING: If the exhaust relief hole becomes submerged, it may result in exhaust restriction, rough idle, excessive smoke, and fouled spark plugs. 2. If the exhaust relief hole is submerged, trim the outboard up until the exhaust relief hole is above the waterline (out of the water).
