Procedure
Requesting Helm Transfer
1. Ensure both the active helm station and the intended destination helm station are manned. WARNING: Never leave the active station while the engine is in gear. One-person helm transfer should only be performed while the engine is in neutral. 2. Move the ERC levers at both the active helm and the destination helm to the neutral position. WARNING: While in neutral, the vessel could drift and collide with nearby objects. Keep an adequate lookout. Use extra care when near docks, piers, other fixed items, or other vessels. 3. Press the transfer button at the helm initiating the transfer to request helm control transfer. Do not move the ERC levers after pressing the transfer button, as any movement will terminate the transfer request. 4. If a beep sounds and the transfer does not succeed, confirm ERC levers at both helms are in neutral and request the transfer again. 5. Once helm transfer is complete, perform any other control and navigation inputs. If fault codes appear on VesselView, cycle the key switch off and on, then restart the helm transfer procedure.
