Battery installation
1. Read all warnings shown on the battery case before handling. WARNING: Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid — hazardous, causes burns on skin contact and is poisonous if swallowed. Wear safety glasses and rubber gloves. Keep battery and electrolyte away from children. 2. Install the battery in the boat, ensuring battery leads do not get stuck between the outboard motor and the boat when turning. WARNING: Battery generates explosive hydrogen gas. Charge only in a well-ventilated area, away from fire, sparks, open flames, burners, or welding equipment. Do not smoke near the battery while charging. 3. Connect the (+) positive and (–) negative battery leads correctly to the engine. WARNING: Incorrect lead connection will damage the charging system. The starter motor may fail to operate if leads are incorrectly connected. 4. Verify the battery is fully charged before use. WARNING: Do not charge the battery when the electrolyte level is low — the battery will be damaged and may cause malfunction. Do not disconnect battery leads while the engine is operating, as this can damage electrical parts.
