Daily Pre/Post-Operation Inspection
1. Fuel System – Check the amount of fuel in the tank. Replenish as needed. WARNING: Do not use outboard motor if any abnormality is found during pre-operation check or it could result in severe damage to the motor or severe personal injury. 2. Fuel System – Check for debris or water in the fuel filters. Clean or replace as needed. 3. Fuel System – Check rubber hoses for fuel leakage. Replace if leaking. 4. Fuel Tank Cap – Check for cracks, leakage, or damage in the fuel tank cap. Replace if defective. 5. Fuel Tank Cap – Check for cracks or damage in the gasket and tether. Replace if defective. 6. Fuel Tank Cap – Check for leakage at full close position. Replace if leaking. 7. Fuel Tank Cap – Check ratchet performance. Replace if not functioning correctly. 8. Engine Oil – Check the oil level. Fill to the upper level mark on the dipstick if low. 9. Electrical Equipment – Check that the main switch functions normally. Replace if faulty. 10. Electrical Equipment – Check battery electrolyte level and specific gravity are normal. Replenish or recharge as needed. 11. Electrical Equipment – Check for loose connections on the battery terminal. Retighten if loose. 12. Electrical Equipment – Check that the stop switch functions normally and confirm the lock plate is present. Remedy or replace as needed. 13. Electrical Equipment – Check cords for loose connections and damage. Correct or replace as needed. 14. Electrical Equipment – Check spark plugs for dirt, wear, and carbon build-up. Clean or replace as needed. 15. Throttle System – Check carburetor linkage is working normally when turning the throttle grip. Correct if not functioning smoothly. 16. Recoil Starter – Check the rope for wear and chafing. Replace if worn or damaged. 17. Recoil Starter – Check ratchet engagement. Correct or replace if not engaging properly. 18. Clutch and Propeller System – Check that the clutch engages correctly when operating the shift lever. Adjust if necessary. 19. Clutch and Propeller System – Visually inspect propeller for bent or damaged blades. Replace if damaged. 20. Clutch and Propeller System – Check that the propeller nut is tightened and the split pin is present. 21. Installation of Motor – Check all bolts attaching the motor to the boat. Tighten if loose. 22. Installation of Motor – Check the thrust rod installation. 23. Cooling Water – After starting the engine, check that cooling water is discharged from the cooling water check port. Repair if no water is discharged. 24. Tools and Spares – Confirm tools and spare parts for replacing spark plugs, the propeller, etc. are present. 25. Tools and Spares – Confirm spare rope is available. 26. Steering Devices – Check the operation of the steering handle. Repair if not operating correctly. 27. Other Parts – Check that the anode is securely installed. Repair if necessary. 28. Other Parts – Check the anode for corrosion and deformation. Replace if corroded or deformed.
