Procedure
Flushing by test tank
1. Remove the propeller before starting the engine in the test tank. WARNING: Do not start engine without removing propeller — turning propeller out in the open may lead to personal injury. 2. Place the outboard motor in the test tank and ensure the water level is at least 10 cm (4 in.) above the anti-ventilation plate to avoid overheating of the engine. 3. Start the engine and run at idling speed only. WARNING: Never start or operate the engine indoors or in any space which is not well ventilated. Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas which can be fatal if inhaled for any length of time.
