Safety Inspection Before Operation
1. Look around and underneath the engine for signs of oil or gasoline leaks. 2. Check that the fuel hose is undamaged and properly connected. 3. Wipe up any spills before starting the engine. 4. Check the stern bracket to be sure the outboard motor is securely installed. 5. Check that all controls are operating properly. 6. Replace any damaged parts. 7. Check that all fasteners are in place and securely tightened. 8. Check the emergency stop switch for proper operation: Start the engine (p. 24, 31, 34, or 37) and confirm the engine stops by pulling the emergency stop switch clip from the emergency stop switch. WARNING: Verify engine stops immediately when emergency stop switch clip is pulled.
