Lanyard Stop Switch Pre-Use Inspection

1. Before each use, start the engine and stop it by pulling the lanyard cord to verify the stop switch works properly. WARNING: If the engine does not stop when the lanyard cord is pulled, have the switch repaired before operating the boat. 2. Before each use, visually inspect the lanyard cord for breaks, cuts, or wear. WARNING: Replace any damaged or worn lanyard cords before operation. 3. Check that the clips on both ends of the lanyard cord are in good condition. WARNING: Replace any damaged or worn lanyard cords. 4. Always properly connect the operator to the stop switch using the lanyard before operating the engine. WARNING: If the operator falls out of the boat, stop the engine immediately to reduce the possibility of serious injury or death from being struck by the boat. 5. Before leaving the operator's station, always disconnect the stop switch lanyard from the operator to avoid accidental or unintended stop switch activation. WARNING: Accidental activation can cause occupants to be thrown forward, loss of power and directional control in heavy seas or strong current, or loss of control when docking.
